Firefighter of the Year
The 2025 “Firefighter of the Year” recipient was nominated and voted by the Imlay City Firefighters and Fire Officers. This award is presented to a fire department member for their outstanding leadership, service, and contributions to the fire department. This year’s recipient is Rodrigo Sanchez. Rodringo consistently makes himself available to respond. He goes above and beyond to support fire calls and special events. His dedication and support did not go unnoticed by the group, which overwhelmingly selected Rodrigo as this year's "Firefighter of the Year."
Kip Reaves Memorial Wingnut Award

The 2025 “Kip Reaves Memorial Wingnut Award” recipient was nominated and voted by the Imlay City Firefighters and Fire Officers. This award is presented to a fire department member for a specific event or situation that demonstrated ingenuity, increased morale, or provided special recognition to the individual or group. This year’s recipient is Matt Makedonsky. Matt has overcome numerous obstacles on scene or responding to fire calls. Whether it was a flat tire, a coolant leak, or just mistakenly grabbing the nastiest-tasting Gatorade drinks to share with the group on a hot day, he always persevered and supported each and every call he responded to. Due to his persistent attitude, the group selected Matt as this year's "Kip Reaves Memorial Wingnut Award" recipient.
